With Congress currently considering a proposed budget agreement that would, among other things, delay implementation of Medicaid DSH payment cuts for two years, NAUH asks Congress to delay implementation of Medicare DSH cuts as well.
NAUH asks members of Congress to support H.R. 1920 and S. 1555, both called the DSH Reduction Relief Act of 2013, that would delay implementation of Affordable Care Act-mandated cuts in Medicare DSH and Medicaid DSH payments.
NAUH announces its support for a Senate bill that proposes a means of paying for a permanent solution to the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula problem that has arisen so many times in recent years.
As the budget conference committee begins work, NAUH asks the committee’s members to protect urban safety-net hospitals from further Medicare and Medicaid cuts. These hospitals have already have suffered a number of such cuts in the recent past and any further reductions could jeopardize jobs and access to care in the communities these hospitals serve.
NAUH asks members of Congress to contact their caucus members serving on the budget conference committee and urge them to protect urban safety-net hospitals from any further cuts in their Medicare and Medicaid payments beyond those the hospitals have recently suffered.
